In the first phases of the B Corp School project, regenerative businesses adopt a class and launch the students an environmental challenge which is connected to certain specific SDGs. Thanks to educational workshops, interactive lessons and facilitated work sessions, the classes are guided by company mentors in the analysis of the environmental and social issues of their territory, in the context of the challenge they were assigned. Subsequently, the classes are guided in the development of a sustainable entrepreneurial idea that will provide a solution to the challenge and the needs of the territory. Thus they create a startup within the school, elaborate the project and present it during B Corp School’s final event: the Changemaker Competition. The event consists in a healthy competition, with exceptional speakers, during which the students present their B Startups with an elevator pitch, followed by a Q&A session with a jury formed by experts from the B Corp scenario, who elect the winner for each B category.
The B Corp School programme is part of the Italian Ministry of education Plan ‘Rigenerazione Scuola’ and is acknowledged at a ministerial level as PCTO programme (former Alternanza Scuola-lavoro, programme by which italian high school students begin having contact with the work market). B Corp School has been awarded a number of prizes, among which the ‘Quality Project’ prize by Regione Lombardia, and various national newspapers such as the Corriere della Sera, Repubblica, La Stampa, Il Fatto Quotidiano, etc, have published about B Corp School, the Changemaker Competition and the Students’ startups.
