The TeRRIFICA Green Walk will be organised around all relevant green and also historical areas of the city of Poznan and will focuse on their evolotion over the time related to the city development and modern spatial planning responding to climate change adaptation and mitigation challenges.
The walk will particularly discover to its participants the nature based solutions, eco-demonstrators, and other green solutions that are used in the city with the aim to protect the natural reservoirs, including water reservoirs, city lakes and ponds, parks and thier biodiversity.
It will be also aimed to show how the responsible research and innovation should be incorporated into green urban planning and how citizens can be engaged in cooperation with universities research end education programmes aimed at climate change adaptation and mitigation.
When discovering the nature in the city, the participants will also learn the history of Poznan and how it has changed and adopted to climate change for the last decades.
By this, it will be the accpetional experience combining the longlasting relation between city, its inhabitants and its nature.
The Walk is a tool for science communication as we will present the scietific approach and research impact on the city eco systems.
It will be also the opportunity to integrate relevant stakeholders arround the topic of climate change adaptation and mitiagtion.
The Walk will be mainly addressed to policymakers, business, media and school educators as well as NGOs who can become change agents in urban green planning and modern citizens education.
We will invite representaitve of relelvant sectors from Poznan as well as members of the TeRRIFICA consortium.
By this we can achieve the butterfly effect and to build a systemic understanding of the green solutions in the city that are realted to climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies and linked to Sustainable Development Goals.
As a satelite event, the introductory seminar for our academic community of Poznan and espacilly for young generation (students and PhD candidates) will b organised, entitled “The Agenda that changed the World”.
It will be deliverd onsite and online by Jan Gustav Strandeasen, the UNEP expert.
