Our world is changing. Humanity’s collective reliance on fossil fuels to power our societies and move people and goods have caused immense damage to our planet and climate, endangering us and all other life forms on Earth. In these times, we must look to the bicycle not merely as leisure or childhood pastime but as a technology that can form the basis of a greener, cleaner and more sustainable future.
Today, the opportunities for cycling have never been greater. Whether motivated by the climate crisis, health issues or air pollution, or just by the urge for more unencumbered mobility, more and more people are taking up cycling as a mode of transportation – and decisionmakers and city planners all over Europe are following suit.
To celebrate EU Green Week and World Bicycle Day 2022 on 3 June, the European Cyclists’ Federation is proud to convene a group of prominent leaders who are at the political and intellectual forefront of the strategies and actions needed to transform the way we move for a discussion on how the bicycle will shape our future.
