Subnational governments are particularly well placed to identify the needs and strengths of their societies in the battle against climate change, and are often responsible for policies that directly influence emission levels. The important lessons being learned at the subnational level can often feed into and improve national policy and shape more ambitious and innovative responses to climate change.
Representing over 330 subnational European governments, the Under2 Coalition and the European Committee of the Regions support and promote the exchange of best practices, ensuring that the European continent reaches net zero emissions by 2050.
To highlight the importance of such local actors in delivering various aspects of the EU Green Deal, the Under2 Coalition, in partnership with the European Committee of the Regions, proposes to host an event where regional actors can present and answer questions on how they are implementing the EU Green Deal and working to ensure that Europe becomes the first climate neutral continent.
