The 2030 EU Biodiversity Strategy will require an urgent investment in restoration, conservation, and innovation to address the mounting biodiversity crisis. For cities, the strategy recommends that those with at least 20,000 inhabitants have an ambitious Urban Greening Plan in place to promote the integration of green infrastructure and nature-based solutions into the urban fabric.
In this event we will discuss the value urban trees provide to promote biodiversity, mitigate the effects of climate change, and enhance citizen well-being. Then we will explore how innovative technologies can optimize the benefits of urban trees, increase engagement with urban nature, and support productive green asset management. Experts and thought leaders in urban forestry, smart cities, and city leadership will provide insights into how action for healthy urban forests can support a greener future for European cities.
