WaterLANDS is a Horizon 2020 Green Deal-funded Innovation Action, which focusses on upscaling the restoration of wetlands across Europe. It will co-create best-practice using the four key pillars of 1) restoring services, 2) engaging communities, 3) aligning governance and 4) mobilising finance.

This meeting is the first in-person gathering of the WaterLANDS network, which spans 32 partner organisations across 14 European countries. Importantly, these cover academic institutions, government bodies, industry, environmental charities and community groups. The aim of this meeting is to not only initiate the various work packages and tasks, but also to gain cohesion as a group, through interactive sessions, field trips and curated social occasions.
Agenda:
Wednesday 4th May - Update on work package progress to date, and building interactions between knowledge sites and Action Sites.
Thursday 5th May - Group training on financing landscape, and parallel sessions for work package leaders. Also includes planning session for restoration sites on how to host an artist-in-residence for the duration of the 5 year project.
Friday 6th May - Dual field trips to restoration sites. Abbeyleix Bog, Co. Laois, and Wicklow Mountain National Park.
