3rd workshop on Roadmap towards phasing out animal testing for chemical safety assessments

This will be the final opportunity to discuss certain roadmap elements with Member States and stakeholders, building on the work of three Commission working groups.

The workshop is the third in a series held in December 2023 and October 2024, related to the Communication from the Commission on the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) “Save cruelty-free cosmetics – Commit to a Europe without animal testing” (25.7.2023, COM(2023)5041).

In this Communication, the Commission committed to developing a roadmap towards ultimately phasing out animal testing for chemical safety assessments. The roadmap will outline milestones and specific actions that would be prerequisites for a transition towards animal-free chemical legislation. 

This third and final workshop is an opportunity for all stakeholders interested in the process to get involved. We plan to present the draft roadmap structure and its milestones. We will also discuss the challenges and opportunities related to its implementation and gather final input before its publication.
