Awards Ceremony in Tallinn - 2025 cycle

As the last step of the competition for the European Green Capitals and European Green Leaf Awards 2025 is approaching, Tallinn is getting ready to host the Awards Ceremony next October.

Next 5 October at 18:00 (EEST), the winners for the European Green Capital 2025 & European Green Leaf 2025 Awards will be revealed during a festive ceremony in Kultuurikatel in Tallinn (Estonia).

Back in July, three finalists were announced for the European Green Capital Award 2025: Graz (Austria), Guimarães (Portugal) and Vilnius (Lithuania). Two finalists were announced for the European Green Leaf Award 2025: Viladecans (Spain) and Treviso (Italy).

Representatives of the European Commission and members of the European Green Capital Network will be gathering from 4 to 6 of October 2023 to attend network meetings and to prepare towards the Award Ceremony. The finalist cities will also be present and ready to receive their title on stage in case they win.

The European Green Capital winner for 2025 will receive a financial prize of EUR 600,000 and the European Green Leaf winner for 2025 will receive a financial prize of EUR 200,000. Both winning cities will then be able to carry out activities and strategies related to their green commitment and to their citizens’ and stakeholders’ engagement.

These two Awards are promoting and recognising the environmental achievements and initiatives of European cities that are strongly committed in making sustainability one of their top priorities. It is also a way to celebrate the European Green Capital Network, composed of all winning and finalist cities since the launch of the competition, back in 2008.

Tallinn is organising there one of its last major event as European Green Capital 2023 before giving its seat to Valencia, elected European Green Capital for 2024, in January 2024.

A detailed programme of the entire ceremony and network meeting will soon be available on the website.
