March 2022 Statistics Release

The growth of EU Ecolabel products continues in the year of its 30th anniversary – excellent news for the Zero Pollution Action Plan and the New Circular Economy Package!

Key FIgures

The EU Ecolabel - the official European Union label of environmental excellence, which contributes to the clean and circular economy with a zero-pollution ambition for a toxic-free environment and climate neutrality – has now reached the highest ever registered number of awarded products, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and political crises.

Consumers can now choose from more than 89 000 EU Ecolabel products across Europe, with the vast majority of EU Ecolabel product groups having witnessed, over the past six months, an increase in both the number of licences and products. Ten new licenses have been awarded for Tourist Accommodation, the leading product group for awarded licenses with a total of 461! Notably, the EU Ecolabel has been awarded to its first ever electronic display! Products registered for the groups Absorbent hygiene productsFurniture, and Indoor Cleaning Services recorded the highest increments, with absorbent hygiene products doubling in count!

This is excellent news for the implementation of the Zero Pollution Action Plan, in a year when also the New Circular Economy Package paved the way for sustainable products to become the norm through several product initiatives!
