Pia Labenski studied at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and received a Master's degree in Geoecology in March 2020.

Since August 2020, she has been employed as a research assistant at the Institute of Geography and Geoecology at KIT and is working on a forest fire project with a focus on fuel and fire modeling for temperate forests of Central Europe.

In parallel, she is working on her doctoral thesis, in which she uses artificial intelligence and remote sensing data to map forest structures and forest fuels.

She is interested in the effects of climate change on vegetation, biodiversity and natural hazards and wants to help mitigate the negative consequences for the environment and society.
