Политиката на ЕС за отпадъците има за цел да допринесе за кръговата икономика чрез извличане на висококачествени ресурси от отпадъците, доколкото е възможно. Европейският зелен пакт цели да насърчи растежа чрез преход към модерна, ресурсно ефективна и конкурентна икономика. Като част от този преход ще бъдат преразгледани няколко закона на ЕС за отпадъците.
Рамковата директива за отпадъците е правната рамка на ЕС за третиране и управление на отпадъци в ЕС. Тя въвежда ред на предпочитание за управление на отпадъците, наречен „йерархия на отпадъците“.
Някои категории отпадъци изискват специфични подходи. Затова заедно с общата правна рамка ЕС разполага с много закони за справяне с различните видове отпадъци.

Цели
