The session recording:
What happens to EU environment policy in times of upheaval, be it a public health crisis, an economic squeeze – or a war? Are they fair-weather policies? Can we afford to put them aside while we deal with emergencies on other fronts? And what is the most effective way of ensuring they remain visible on the political agenda? These questions have often been asked in recent times, first during to the COVID-19 pandemic, and now in relation to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.
The opening session of Green Week 2022 will address the complex position of environment policy in the current circumstances. As well as touching on the environmental impact of wars, speakers will address issues like the EU energy mix, food prices and access to critical raw materials. The post-conflict reconstruction is also likely to feature.
