Article 10 of the Aarhus Convention requires that the Meeting of the Parties continuously review the Convention’s implementation, relying on regular reporting by the Parties.
In light of this, the latest EU report on the matter covers the period 2021–2025. It will be submitted to the Meeting of the Parties of the Aarhus Convention, which will take place in November this year.
Reports from previous reporting cycles are available here.
Consulting stakeholders is an important part of preparing the reports. As such, Member States and/or public authorities, citizens, companies, business associations and organisations, including environmental non-governmental organisations, and academics are all encouraged to participate in this consultation process.
Consultation document: Draft Aarhus Convention Implementation Report 2025
The consultation period runs from 26 March – 26 April 2025.
Stakeholders are encouraged to submit their comments by adding their suggestions into the draft report using track changes. As this is a recurrent exercise conducted by the Commission every four years and the last report was prepared in 2021, the draft report already addresses in tracked changes most updates on the activities carried out between 2021–2025.
This will be the sixth report of its kind prepared by the Commission on behalf of the EU.
Please note that the focus of this report is on EU actions in the areas addressed by the Aarhus Convention. Activities undertaken by Member States are not covered by the report, since they are covered in separate national reports.
