VIDEO: Crash course - Understanding Your Water Footprint

Do you know how much water goes into making your favourite foods, the clothes you are wearing, or the car you are driving?

This crash course examines the hidden use of water in everyday production, and how the EU has various tools to encourage more sustainable water consumption.

Water is used in the production of almost everything, from food to cosmetics to cars to batteries. For instance, producing just 1kg of chocolate typically requires over 17,000 litres of water. But much of this use is not immediately obvious. Investigating the water footprint brings into focus how much water is fuelling our consumption habits, which is a key step to understanding how we can achieve a more water resilient future.
