Air quality is a priority in EU policy. A Polish study takes the concept of a cadastre – a structured database usually associated with land and property – and uses it to visualise emissions and clean air data, aiming to support city sustainability.
EU standards regulate the composition of charcoal products sold for barbecues. A new study shows how the characteristics of charcoal affect emissions of key air pollutants during combustion, finding that lump charcoal burns more cleanly than briquettes.
With textile waste collection mandated across the EU, questions remain about what to do with all those materials. Latvian scientists explore several interesting solutions, including using waste textiles as a base for fungi-based thermal insulation.
