Today, the LIFE Programme announced the five winners of the annual LIFE Awards at a ceremony held during EU Green Week, Europe’s largest annual environmental event.
The Zero Pollution Stakeholder Platform, a joint initiative of the European Commission (EC) and the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), held its first workshop on 24-25 May under the title “Towards a Zero Pollution Monitoring and Outlook”.

EU Green Week 2022 will take place 30 May to 5 June in a hybrid format with the theme ‘EU Green Deal – Make It Real’.

On 30 and 31 May, the EU Ecolabel will celebrate its 30th anniversary at EU Green Week. A special birthday party on 31 May will include the launch of a new ‘Showroom on Wheels!’ to showcase the scheme’s contributions to environmental excellence and sustainable consumer choices.
A new batch of European cities have chosen to take up the challenge and join the competition for the next European Green Capital and European Green Leaf Awards.

The six winners of the 2022 Natura 2000 Award include projects from Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Portugal, Spain and a cross-border project from Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
Today, the Commission has launched an open public consultation as part of the evaluation of the Environmental Liability Directive (ELD), the EU framework to prevent and remedy damage to land, water and biodiversity based on the ‘polluter pays’ principle.
The Zero Pollution Stakeholder Platform, a joint initiative of the European Commission (EC) and the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) , held its second meeting on 25 April with a focus on the Zero Pollution Action Plan as a key driver for reducing health inequalities in the EU.
The European Commission recently announced the much anticipated list of 100 cities that will participate in the Cities Mission, 30 of them have already signed the Green city Accord.
