EU Ecolabel Success Story - Paper Products (2014)

Coop is the largest retail chain in Italy. It was the first company in Europe to be awarded the SA8000 Social Responsibility certification, which guarantees that an ethical standard for the design and production of brand-name products is observed by all providers of Coop brand products. Coop places an emphasis on serving its consumers by promoting eco-friendly non- food products and organic products. The success of its first EU Ecolabel paper product in 1998 prompted Coop to commit to the scheme and continue to expand its product range under this ecolabel.
