This workshop was the first in a three-part online stakeholder consultation series supporting the upcoming European Commission Communication on a Digitally Powered Green Transition and its accompanying Action Plan. The series aims to gather expert insights and practical input for shaping the Green Deal Data Space (GDDS)—a key enabler for leveraging digital technologies to meet the EU’s 2030 environmental goals while fostering sustainable competitiveness.
This session explored how the GDDS can empower artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate the green transition. AI holds great promise for tackling complex environmental challenges—from optimising energy and resource use to improving monitoring and compliance systems. But to deliver on this potential, AI systems require access to high-quality, well-structured, and interoperable data.
