Stakeholders and civil society are invited to a high-level event “Towards a Water Resilience Strategy for the European Union” at the European Commission’s premises in Brussels on 6 March (09:00–18:00).
In her Political Guidelines for the next European Commission (2024-2029), President Ursula von der Leyen announced a new European Water Resilience Strategy to ensure that water sources are properly managed, scarcity is addressed and that we enhance the competitive innovative edge of our water industry while taking a circular economy approach.
The Strategy will have an international dimension by leading efforts to help mitigate and prevent acute global water stress.
The event is part of a consultation process for developing the European Water Resilience Strategy that will allow stakeholders to share their knowledge and provide input.
The Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, Jessika Roswall, will be present to welcome participants and give an opening statement.
Dedicated sessions on the main aspects of the water resilience agenda will be included and stakeholders will be asked to contribute and engage in active discussions on the spot.
The event is organised in the framework of the European Ocean Days and the Mission Ocean and Waters Forum & Related Events (3-7 March).
