Country reports

The Environmental Implementation Review (EIR) is a regular reporting tool designed to improve the implementation of EU environmental laws and policies. View the country reports from 2017, 2019 and 2022 here. 

The first EIR package was adopted in February 2017, the second in April 2019 and the third September 2022.

The fourth EIR package was adopted in 2025 and is available here. 

In addition to the country-specific reports, the 2022 package included

  • Communication identifying common challenges across countries and how to combine efforts to deliver better results, including an Annex that summarises suggested actions for improvement for all countries
