Since September 2025, the number of awarded licences and products has shown a steady increase, with growth recorded across most EU Ecolabel product groups. The current number of EU Ecolabel licences and products represents once again the highest ever recorded. This growth reflects a continuous and growing interest among businesses, retailers and consumers in eco-friendly, innovative and competitive products.
Compared to September 2025, there has been a notable increase:
- The total number of awarded products (+7 596 products = +7%)
- The total number of awarded licences (+ 157 licences = +5%)
* A licence refers to an EU Ecolabel contract encompassing one or several awarded products within the same product group.

Licences and products per country
Overall, Germany, Italy, France and Spain remain the countries awarding the highest number of licences. In terms of products, Italy, Spain, France, and Germany lead in the number of awarded products.

Licences and products per product group
Out of the total 3 541 licences, most belong to the following product groups: Tourist accommodations (27%), Hard surface cleaning products (13%), Tissue paper and tissue products (8%) and Indoor cleaning services (8%).
The product groups with the highest number of awarded products are: Indoor and outdoor paints and varnishes (33%), Tissue paper and tissue products (18%), Textiles (10%), and Furniture products (9%).
Most EU Ecolabel product groups have once again experienced an increase in the number of licences and products.
Additional explanation on the evolution of selected product groups:
- In 2020, Printed paper, stationery paper and paper carrier bag products (Decision (EU) 2020/1803) merged the three former product groups Converted paper, Newsprint paper and Printed paper.
- In 2020, Electronic displays (Decision (EU) 2020/1804) replaced the former product group Televisions.
- In 2021, Cosmetic products (Decision (EU) 2021/1870) replaced the former product group Rinse-off cosmetics and now includes both, Rinse-off and Leave-on cosmetics.
- In 2022, Growing media and soil improvers (Decision (EU) 2022/1244) replaced the former product group Growing media, soil improvers and mulch.
- In 2023, new criteria were adopted for Absorbent hygiene products.
- In 2025, Decision (EU) 2025/2607 established three product groups: Decorative paints, varnishes, and related products; Performance coatings and related products; and Water-based aerosol spray paints (new product group), which will replace Indoor and outdoor paints and varnishes (2014 criteria).
