The mid-term review of the 8th Environment Action Programme (EAP), released Wednesday, demonstrates how the EU is not only achieving many of the environmental goals set out under the European Green Deal (EGD), but also strengthening the economy through the expansion of the green sector.
The roll-out of EGD legislation is expected to increase employment and gross added value in green economy sectors, thereby boosting EU competitiveness.
The report also notes that most objectives for the EU's second circular economy action plan, the zero-pollution action plan and the biodiversity strategy, have been completed, underlining the importance of meeting these goals for their positive economic and social impacts, including in relation to improving wellbeing, health, resilience, and security of supply.
Watch our video to see what the EU is doing to boost jobs and European competitiveness through the EGD.
