VIDEO: How do digital technologies impact water management and consumption?

The latest Water Matters crash course looks at how digital innovations can help boost water resilience across sectors but, at the same time, put pressure on our water supplies.

Digital solutions can help reduce water leaks in infrastructure, improve irrigation efficiency, and even forecast rain patterns in a climate that is more and more difficult to predict. However, society and businesses’ increasing reliance on digital technologies, like data centres and car batteries, require huge volumes of water during production and use. 

To ensure efficient water consumption, the EU has a range of legislation. For example, the EU Battery Regulation mandates sustainable water use throughout the battery’s lifecycle.
