European Green Capital and Green Leaf Networks meeting in Grenoble

On 2 and 3 June 2022 a EU Green Capital & EU Green Leaf Networks meeting took place in Grenoble. The Networks are composed of previous finalist and winning cities.

Ten EU Green Capital cities like Copenhagen, Grenoble, Hamburg, Lahti, Lille, Ljubljana, Strasbourg, Tallinn, Vitoria-Gasteiz, together with ten EU Green Leaf cities like Cornellà de Llobregat, Gabrovo, Galway, Horst aan de Maas, Lappeenranta, Torres Vedras, Valongo, and Winterswijk reunited in Grenoble for the Networks meeting on 2 and 3 June 2022.

It was the first time in more than two years that the Networks could meet fully in person. For this occasion, an interesting and busy programme had been prepared. Thursday morning was dedicated to a brainstorming session over how to work all together inside the Networks and which goals we want to achieve. In the afternoon, the visits of 3 eco-districts were organised by the city of Grenoble: Flaubert, Caserne de Bonne & Presq’île. In the evening, a reception for all the participants was organised on “La Bastille” site, on top of Grenoble with a beautiful view on the Alps.

On Friday thematic site visits took place. They were focusing on the following themes: Climate Change Adaptation, Sustainable Urban Mobility, and Nature & Biodiversity. In the afternoon, the Networks members visited an exhibition set up by Winterswijk and a Thematic Workshop on EU Funding possibilities was organised in order to share experiences on concrete cases.

The Networks meeting ended Friday evening, but participants were invited to stay in Grenoble a bit longer, as many activities were taking place in the city over the weekend as part of “La Fête des Tuiles”.
