Travel wise, travel green - Tourist Accommodation Toolkit
As the tourism sector begins its recovery from COVID-19, there has never been a better time for us to switch to greener options in an effort to build-back more sustainably. Whether you are a hotel/campsite owner or a holidaymaker, this campaign will allow you to:
- Raise awareness of the EU Ecolabel by posting ready-made materials on your social media accounts and/or sharing these materials with your local networks.
- Show your support for EU Ecolabel-certified tourist accommodation, empowering consumers to make more sustainable choices.
A Toolkit for Multipliers is available in 24 EU languages, and includes a ready-to-use (ready-to-share) zip file with:
- A how-to manual
- A package of creative assets for distribution to your contacts and dissemination on your own
- Social media channels (visuals, stickers, video testimonials… )
- Samples of social media posts (including handles and hashtags)
- A dissemination calendar (with dates and possible hooks around which to plan your communication efforts)
- A link to our interactive quiz
- A customisable template email for you to reach out to your national contacts
The material within this toolkit can be used as-is (copy/paste). However, it may have higher impact if the content is translated into your local language(s) and/or edited for your target audience(s).

If the composition of the product stays the same and only the name of the products is changing, the producer does not have to submit a full application again. However, the producer needs to formally inform the Competent Body of the changes and get approval for an extension of its license to any newly added products.
In principle you do not need to submit a new application if the new characteristics do not affect compliance with the EU Ecolabel criteria. However, it is always best to contact the Competent Body that issued your EU Ecolabel licence and notify him of any modifications.
Yes, compliance with EU Ecolabel packaging criteria is obligatory. It is prohibited to use the EU Ecolabel on products that do not comply with all the criteria, as per the criteria documents. This also applies to packaging criteria for commercial samples to be given away for free.
